Four weeks ago we met a brother. He joined the church about a year ago and about 6 months ago, he got a job that made him workon Sunday. When we met with him for the first time he showed us his favorite scripture in Exodus 20. The 4th commandment. Keep the Sabbath Day Holy. We talked about his job and how he had to work on Sunday. He said that he was going to ask for Sunday's off. So he did. We prayed and prayed and prayed and his schedule was posted and he was working on Sunday. So we prayed and prayed and prayed some more. Schedule came out for the second week. Working on Sunday. So we prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed again and the 3rd week when the schedule was posted, He had Sunday off work! Miracles! They happen! Prayer and faith works! I know God knows us and loves us and has a plan for us. We have to be patient and diligence in all that we do but God is there. He hears our pleas and answers them. :)
We met our neighbors this past week. They just moved in. We took a plate of cookies over and introduced ourselves before curfew one night and they let us right in. We got to talk with them for a little bit and about 10 minutes in, the father asked what church we went to. As we talked he shared an experience of when he was in the Marine Corps and was doing a tour in Iraq. He had a buddy. Who was Mormon. He talked about how great a guy he was and how much he respected him and then he got quiet and said in a low voice. "I never got to say goodbye." He got really teary eyed and choked up and said "He got shot, I went in. I was too late". It was a very special moment to sit in that man's home and see that love he had for his friend. To see the sacrifice that he made and that all people in the military make.
Another Guy and his family continue to progress so rapidly. During one of our lessons with them this week, He got up about halfway through the lesson, went into his room and came back out with a notebook and started taking notes on our lesson. He wrote down their baptism date and everything! Miracle! Never happened to me before. They came to church again on Sunday! I cannot explain how great this work is! He came to church and so did 10 others! We had 11 amazing people at church on Sunday that are investigating the church. Faith! I love seeing people repent and change their lives and show that desire to draw closer to the Savior. It's life changing to watch the Spirit work miracles in their lives. :)
He texted us this week and told us that he loved Alma 5 and said "I've been pondering on it all day"! Okay. Miracle! Not only is he reading the Book of Mormon. He is pondering it! :) Phenomenal faith!
My "ponder" thought for the week. When it comes to commandments, they change. The practices and applications change over time. As the world around us changes, we adapt. The thing that doesn't change is the eternal principle. For example. The eternal principle of marriage. It has always been between a man and woman and is ordained of God. However, the application has changed over time. To adapt to the times. Hope that makes sense. I've been pondering it all week, after we discussed it in church last week.
