Wow! So much happens in the life of a missionary every single day that it is impossible to tell of all the miracles we see! The Lord is so much a part of this work, it's something that can't be explained. We get to be a part of so many great experiences! Most are spiritual and some are just plain funny and crazy!
This past week was no exception! That's for sure!
The Funny: We visited a member family that is here in Texas getting treatment because the mom has cancer. We knocked on the door and the mother opened up. She let us in and as we walked down the corridor to the living room she said to her husband "it's just the missionaries". As we rounded the corner, we saw the dad, with a gun. Ha! It was quite a laugh. :) He didn't know who had knocked at the door and so out came the gun, to protect his family. We all had a good laugh about it! :)
The Crazy & Spiritual: We had a lesson with a guy who got baptized a couple years ago and now his job works him on Sunday and so he isn't active. We had a great visit until his friend joined us. Worst Bible Bash ever! I couldn't believe it! It's sad that people are so lost and confused and unsure that they feel the need to disprove the beliefs of those around them! It was a great opportunity to walk away from it though and still be able to know, without a doubt, that The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church restored to the earth and that The Book of Mormon is the word of God. No doubt in my mind.
The Spiritual: A man bore his testimony (what he believes) this Sunday in church and he shared something very profound about the sacrament (bread and water). He said that growing up, as he partook of the sacrament, he would think about his mistakes he made the past week. He said that recently a man, who is sick in the hospital, and still has the sacrament brought to him every week, taught him a different way to look at the sacrament. The man in the hospital said that taking the sacrament was a chance for him to reflect on how he could more fully commit himself to Jesus Christ in the week to come. What a powerful way to truly take upon yourself the name of Christ and renew those baptism covenants.
I love this work! More than anything I have loved before! The joy I feel is something I can't explain!
