This past week was quite an adventure! On Saturday night the flood hit! Hard! My companions and I were at an apartment complex for an appointment. They weren't home. So we decided to try some other potentials in the area. We had our umbrellas with us, because it was raining a little bit, but not too bad. Within about 10 minutes, a complete turn around happened. The wind picked up, strong, and the rain came down in sheets. Within minutes the sidewalks and roads were covered in water. Absolutely covered. You couldn't see your way around anything. We took cover under the laundry building in the apartment complex and realized that it wasn't going to stop anytime soon. We ran to the car, splashing through puddles of water and by the time we got to the car, we were soaked, head to toe. My companion, Sister. Bianchini, was assigned to drive that day and so she attempted to drive, but it was too bad. We didn't even make it out of the apartment complex. We stopped and waited for a few minutes and knew we just had to get home. Now. I jumped into the driver's seat and away we went. We got out of the apartment complex (which was built up higher than the roads) and realized that the flooding was worse than we thought. We only drove about a block and knew we couldn't risk driving any further. We were going to ruin the car. The flooding was too deep. We pulled the car to higher ground and after a couple of minutes, decided we needed to just get home. We couldn't drive though, and so we walked! :) We were about a mile from home, it was pouring rain, the roads were flooded with water, we were in church clothes and it was awesome! We were drenched, head to toe, walking through the middle of the road, in our proselyting clothes with water up to our knees! :) We made it safely home and spent the night studying in our apartment and watching the storm! It was the most intense storm I have ever been in! I loved it! We got our car back the next morning, no damage. What a miracle. We thought it may have been ruined from the block we drove it in the flood. Phew! It was quite a grand adventure!
In other news, we had interviews with President. Ashton (my first time) this past week. It went great! He is such an inspired man. He's incredible and I am so thankful to serve with him here in Texas! He has promised us we can baptize weekly. We are praying and fasting to have the faith and knowledge on how to accomplish this goal! :)
Being a missionary is incredible! This work is rapidly progressing and I am grateful to be a part of it! I hope all is well with all of you!
